I have used the greyboard coasters (well beer mats!) which at only 15p each are great for trying out new ideas and techniques.
I did add a good coat of gesso before adding some texture paste through a stencil and then spritzing with some pink ink sprays.
I wanted to add some more texture so added some torn text paper and more texture paste through a stencil.
I wasn't too happy with the colour at this stage so everything got another coat of gesso!
Lastly I added some brown ink around the edges and sponged some of the gesso away from the sprayed areas with a baby wipe until I was happy with the colour.
My focal point for each coaster was a little Victorian tag which seemed a bit bland so I decided to add a coat of DecoArt Crackle Glaze and then White Antiqueing Cream to age it a little. I really loved this effect, although I was a bit heavy handed around her face!
I only wanted a small element for the cluster on each coaster so I cut this floral vine corner piece into three. I love how versatile these corners are! I really love it in its brown state but did give it a dab with some white acrylic paint.
As you can see the final decoration was quite simple - a little lace flower, the vine embellishment and a little cluster of paper flowers.
The stamens on the paper flowers have been coated with gesso and then when dry a little gold acrylic paint.
Thank you for joining me today and happy crafting and creating!
